Idiots of the Week: Bill O’Reilly is a Weasel and Jesse Jackson is a “Jesse”

By JBC | July 17, 2008

mescotThis is a ridiculous story.  Reverend Jackson was caught using a censored word, and Fox News decided we shouldn’t know about it.  First of all, it is preposterous that nobody outside of rap circles can use this word which I’ll now refer to as ”Jesse” (I refuse to use the “N-word” reference…nautical is an N-word, nebulus is an N-word, nefarious is an N-word…it causes too much confusion in educated minds…we are not really supportive of this censorship-thang that is taking place in our politically correct society).  It is a word.  Come on!!!!  Reverend Jackson didn’t feel uncomfortable saying it, and God bless him for it.  Wait a minute…..didn’t he try to help heal America after the Michael Richards rant at a comedy club.  Didn’t he ask for a moratorium on use of ”Jesse” (yes, but he saw nothing wrong with the word Hymie…but, out of respect, I will now use the word, “Kirk“)?  “We must not profit off degradation and self-hate to a music beat,…We deserve a higher sense of dignity and respect.”   But, I think Reverend Jackson castrated his dignity and respect many years ago.  Bottom line…he used the word, and I could care less.  After all, this is Jesse Jackson…do we expect any amount of decorum or intellect from this race-baiter?  Nahh, not really.  So, it was a non-event.

The more important part of the story is the action of the Leprechaun, Bill O’Reilly.  Explaining the refusal to inform the public about that one word (Jessie Jackson), he said:

I’m not in the business of hurting Jesse Jackson, because it does hurt Jesse Jackson. And I’m not in the business of creating some kind of controversy that is not relevant to the general subject: one civil rights leader disparaging another, over policy. So we held it back.

Hmmm, so Barak Obama has been elevated from Chicago-Machine flunky to “civil rights leader”?  When did that happen?  Nonetheless, would O’Reilly have made the same decision if this word was uttered by some other preacher…say, John Hagee?  Of course not.  I really don’t understand the double standard.  Michael Richards had to get down and lick the boots of black civil rights leaders for using the word in a rant against a couple of folks who were interrupting his comedy act.  But, the Reverend Jackson uses the word to refer to blacks, most likely referring to ones being lectured by Obama in his “family values” speech, and he’s given a pass by Bill O’Reilly because it wasn’t germane to the point Fox News wanted to make.  Fair and Balanced?  Yeah, they are about as fair and balanced as the budgets that will be signed by Barak.  It is a word, people…a word.  I guess the new phrase for children should be, “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me…unless you call me “Jesse Jackson”, and then I’ll castigate you in the media and ruin your career, unless you are Jesse Jackson, in which case I’ll leave it up to some “weasel” to leak the information to the public.”

All of this is much ado about nothing, with the exception of the lack of credibility of Fox News and their head waterboy, Bill O’Reilly.
