Whiner in Chief Obama

By JBC | July 11, 2008

mescot“It isn’t whining to ask government to step in and give families some relief.” - Barak Hussein Obama

It isn’t whining to ASK (beg) government to step in (interfere) and give families some relief (handouts).  This is where we are as a country now.  If this statement by the Democratic nominee-to-be doesn’t explain Phil Gramm’s angst to you, I’m not sure you can be reached.  If Obama’s response to this unfortunate utterance by Gramm doesn’t offend your political sensibilities, you are a socialist.  I understand that Gramm isn’t the sharpest tool in the box, and his statement was reminiscent of Jimmy Carter’s horrible “Malaise Speech”, but there is more than a kernel of truth in his statement.  Americans have become less and less self-reliant, and have come to rely on Uncle Sugar to bail them out when they make terrible mistakes.

Let me be perfectly clear, if you default on YOUR mortgage, it is YOUR fault.  If banks make make dodgy loans, it is THEIR fault.  It is as simple as that.  Ignorance of the terms of the mortgage is nobody’s fault but the person putting their name on the dotted line.  It is not MY or YOUR responsibility to bail them out.  That is what we are being asked to do…to bail out tens of thousands of families who have made very poor financial decisions.  Has Uncle Sam ever sent you a check for a car that you wrecked, an electronic device you broke, or a credit card bill you were unable to pay?  I don’t think so.  To bail out these borrowers, or even more so, to bail out the multi-billion dollar lenders, is contrary to the basic tenets of capitalism.  Additionally, I think it is outright immoral.  People who do their best to take care of themselves and live within their means should not be required to pay for those who have chosen to act irresponsibly.

But, Barak Obama is representative of the idea that we should all underwrite the bad choices of others.  He is a true socialist.  God, please help us.

PS - And, just by the way, it is unconstitutional.  Whaaaa, you may ask?  Just read this statement from President Grover Cleveland, who is probably the last great defender of the Constitution to inhabit the White House, regarding his veto of the “Texas Seed Bill” which would have provided relief to American citizens suffering from a four-year drought:

I can find no warrant for such an appropriation in the Constitution; and I do not believe that the power and duty of the General Government ought to be extended to the relief of individual suffering which is in no manner properly related to the public service or benefit. A prevalent tendency to disregard the limited mission of this power and duty should, I think, be steadily resisted, to the end that the lesson should be constantly enforced that, though the people support the Government, the Government should not support the people.  (Congressional Record, 49 Cong., 2d Sess., vol. XVIII, Pt. II, 1887, p. 1875, with thanks to The Independent Institute)

Thanks, Jb, for commenting on my blog in the Northwest Florida Daily news. I always love to hear how others are thinking about this farce we’re calling an election. I made the fatal and ignorant mistake of cheering for Dubya in the day and have made up my mind to clear up this ignorance problem I seemed to have….to stop looking at the world through rose colored glasses and ‘get real’. Because of your comment, I found my way, here, to your blog, and I must say I am impressed! I enjoyed and applauded every word you wrote and even registered with your blog so I could get a daily fix whenever I wanted to.
So, looks like you may have attracted a ’stalker’…LOL. Please keep blogging….I so love reading it!
    Thanks, again.

DeeEm1, no…thank you. Finding others who are able to see through these very shallow candidates, and their equally unknowledgable cheerleaders in the mainstream media is tough. I feel almost like Will Smith’s character in the film, “I Am Legend”. I think people will wake up…but, it might just be too late. Thanks again for not going to sleep.
