Dumb Crackers

Reporting on the lack of education of the majority of white voters supporting Hillary Clinton continues to dominate post-primary election analysis following contests in Kentucky and Oregon. The mainstream media is supposedly attempting to emphasize Barak Obama’s inability to connect with the great unwashed gun-totin’, Bible-bashin’ white voters of middle America. To be fair, the MSM has a point, of which the real magnitude will be apparent until the November general election. While it is important to understand that middle America has failed to join the bleating sheep from the more liberal coastal areas of the United States, I’m afraid the real message being imparted to the general public, generally lacking sufficient cynicism to reject such pabulum, is that there is either a problem with less educated white folks’ ability to understand such a well-educated liberal African-American candidate OR these dumb white crackers are racist.
Exit polling conducted by the media has generally focused on the voting preferences of uneducated European-Americans and those who consider the race of a candidate as a significant factor in their electoral choice. The objective of the pairing of these two groups should be obvious. The media, far from trying to decipher the thought processes of the voting public, are attempting to paint white working-class voters as ignorant illiterate racists. The implication is as follows: should these white people receive sufficient education, they would join the highly sophisticated bleating of the multi-cultural masses on the Barak Bandwagon.
Snobbery among media elites is certainly not a new phenomenon. But, it has rarely been as naked, bold, and venomous. Reverend Wright’s words were certainly offensive to the vast majority of Americans. I hardly find the Racist Rev’s direct words, spoken in an open forum, less offensive than the tittering thinly-veiled innuendo of the mainstream media.
