Brits Sit While Hostages Praise the Great Iranian Government

By JBC | March 30, 2007

All the stories have been told
Of kings and days of old,
But there’s no England now.

- Dave Davies

mescotWhat happened to the United Kindgom?  It seems that the English are only willing to fight over a girl’s game, soccer.  Maybe Archie Bunker had it right all those years ago, when he told the Meathead, “the English are fags”.  I believe English manhood died when Maggie Thatcher left office.

I’m not sure what the Royal Navy could have done to prevent this 15th century country from abducting their sailors, but surely the Britain from days gone by would have reacted more vigorously.  There are questions to be asked, such as why the Brits did not fire back at the approaching Iranian craft, and why were the British vessels unable to evade their captors due to the fact that they should have had helicopter cover.  While these questions remain unanswered, and for the most part, unasked, it seems that the British government was more interested in gaining the return of terror accomplices from Guatanomo than freeing these brave young people from the heart of terror.  In response to allegations that he had reacted slowly and unaggressively to this despicable act, Prime Minister Tony Blair said, “We have to be patient, because what is important is that they are released safe and sound.”  Yes, that is important.  But it is also important to remain firm in the face of the enemy.  Does he believe a humane response will prevent further such attacks on British citizens?  Animals like these do not respond to kindness and “isolation” from the larger world.  Does anyone remember the Great Humanitarian, James Earl Carter, and his efforts to end our hostage crisis with Iran?

As Mr. Blair allows each of these 15 sailors and marines to issue statements of praise and awe regarding their Iranian captors, and denigration and contempt for the foreign policy of their home country, with no response from his government, he increases the danger of similar attacks in the future.  The Prime Minister’s toughest remark thus far is telling.  He said, “And what the Iranians have to realise is that if they continue in this way they will face continued isolation.”  Yikes.  Isolation.  Yes, that sends shivers down the spines of the truly evil.

Where are the Englishmen?  Is The Iron Lady still available?

Ya need to update your link to Jimmy Carter’s page on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Earl_Carter) … you have Billy’s page linked at the moment, or was that the point?

    Cheers,
    Nick

Great to hear from you, Nick. Yes, I try to add a little levity to my vicious attacks. Billy Carter was probably a tad more interesting than his brother. He had his own beer, how great is that?

I had a look at the brothersjuddblog, and it was very interesting. How did you stumble onto that one?
