She’s a Nice Lady and Might Even Vote to Reverse Roe v. Wade, BUT….

By JBC | October 5, 2005

mescotIt is nice to hear that conservatives finally have something to publicly grumble about regarding our president. Are these guys slow or what? Shrub has been approving liberal program after liberal program, speaking openly about open borders, referred to men who are trying to do something about our porous borders as vigilantes, sent thousands of patriotic men and women to their graves in support of wars that have nothing to do with our national security, and even had the audacity to overlook Antonin Scalia for Chief Justice, the greatest legal mind of our age with the exception of Robert Bork…..and THIS finally ticks them off…a little???? I don’t know what to say. Well, I know what to say, but just don’t know how to put it in words that would not offend Grandma.

At first blush, Harriet Mier appears to be a very nice lady and even appears to be somewhat conservative. But, we really don’t know, do we? That Souter fellow seemed like a nice man and even appeared somewhat conservative. Whatever happened to that guy?

If this weren’t enough, and blowing a chance at a definitively conservative court that would overturn Roe and affirmative action laws is enough, he overlooked very qualified alternatives. These alternatives have been fighting the good fight by interpreting the constitution and ruling by the words in the document and not the words on the Op-Ed page of the New York Times. Not only that, but there are even women among this group, which would pass the muster with the First Lady’s own affirmative action plan for her little W’s court.

Don’t take this lightly people, please don’t. George W. Bush is blowing what is possibly our very last chance at creating a Supreme Court that does what the Founding Fathers intended. We had the chance. It was in our grasp. George W pulled a Bill Buckner move. If the people of Boston can make such a nice All American baseball player feel unwelcome enough to move to Japan, why can’t we muster nerve to send a message to the Shrubbery and his Rove-bots via a conservative rejection of his mediocre, but really nice, appointment.
